Happy Anniversary... Now Fix the Water Heater

October 19, 2008
Husband and Wife!

Unfortunately this update is late, but better late than never! Yesterday was our first anniversary (isn't that just so cute to say?) and we tried to celebrate. Why "try"? Well, first of all, it was a Monday, and we both went to work. When we got home we played tennis, then got ready for dinner. We wanted to celebrate at a popular local restaurant, Rudy and Pacos, but when we got there the door was locked - after jiggling the handle and probably bothering everyone inside (sorry!) a hostess came to the door to inform us that there was a private dinner going on. Oops. So we went to Olympia Grill instead - still yummy! Dinner was very nice. It wasn't until we got home that we found out that probably during our shower after tennis, a seal on our water heater piping went bad and water was pouring out the top and all over the closet and floor by the back door. Thank goodness we have a dip at that part of the house, because it kept the water from going into the kitchen and everything. Of course, there's no shut off valve to the water heater exclusively, so we had to shut the water off to the whole house. After all that, Brian spent a good majority of the night waiting for the thing to drain as we were expecting the plumber in the morning.

We still managed to dig into our top tier of the grooms cake, saved for our anniversary. It didn't get wrapped up to keep the freezer burn out, so needless to say, it didn't exactly taste great! First words out of Brian's mouth: "Is it supposed to taste like coconut?" And it really did! Weird.

Anyway, the plumber is here now, we're getting a brand new water heater (replacing our 18 year old artifact) and a shut off valve plus drain pan that drains directly outside (no more floods!). Happy Anniversary, Honey!
