The Air is a Little Thinner Up Here...

We have arrived and enjoyed our first day in the mountains of Colorado! Our cabin is cozy, the mountains are impressive (and snow-capped!), and we're already exhausted after a 7 mile hike in the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan National Forest. Enjoy these photos from our adventures!

First, meet Dilly - we've decided to take a little piece of Texas with us as we explore. Dilly is an armadillo we rescued from the cheesy pits of The Big Texan Restaurant and Store in Amarillo... he looked up at us with his big brown eyes and begged us to take him on an adventure or two. He's a pretty good companion and we look forward to having Dilly along this week and on many trips to come!

Shortly after crossing the border between Texas and New Mexico, Dilly met Billy (the Kid!)

We have seen a lot of different terrain since we left Galveston!

Today's hike was a tough one... we're ready for some R&R! But the views were totally worth it!

Yes, that IS SNOW - we encountered a few patches here and there (I even managed to slide on some and land on my booty!) even though it was a balmy 70 or so degrees outside.
Dilly is clearly enthusiastic about his first snow sighting!

This is one of the nearby cabins... so pretty!
